Adult Survivors of Bullying/Peer Abuse are a very special lot. We lived abuse as children and survived it. As a result, we deserve a place of recognition and honor. Sadly, some of us became abusers after going through the abuse in school. Or, took the law into our own hands. Despite any of that, they survived and deserve a place on the page. There is no excuse for crime and yes, they should be punished. At the same time, their crime involved being abused by their peers. Without further ado, meet the survivors.

Celebrity Adult Survivors of Bullying/Peer Abuse:
Criminal Adult Survivors of Bullying/Peer Abuse:
Andy Williams: The Santana Shooter. He suffered many indignities at the hands of his peers. As a result, he snapped and shot two people. He is currently incarcerated in California.
Bernadette Protti: She was ostracized by her peers and made fun of because she did not come from a wealthy home like her abusers did. This is what we now know as Relational Aggression. She tried to befriend her main bully only to have the girl turn on her viciously. As a result, she stabbed her. Bernadette served seven years in the California Youth Authority and was released in the 1990′s. Her current location is undisclosed and now uses another identity.
Charles Starkweather: Abused by his peers throughout his school career. As a result, he went on a monstrous killing spree in the Midwest in the 1950′s and some of the motives stemmed back to his days of abuse in school. Sadly, he was a case of going from abused to abuser. He was put to death for his crimes.
Marty Puccio: Marty’s best friend was his main abuser during the 1970′s-1990′s. He was taunted, beaten and controlled by his friend. Marty got a girlfriend who introduced him to friends and the group murdered the bully because he was a bully and it made them mad. Each of the participants received different sentences for the murder. Marty was originally on death row, but his sentence was overturned to life without parole. He is currently incarcerated in Florida.
Lisa Michelle Lambert: Lisa Lambert committed a horrific crime against a rival Laurie Show back in the early 1990′s. Her behavior was highly unbalanced as she clung to her boyfriend who Laurie went out with when the two were broken up. However, Lisa was abused by her peers in middle and high school and she eventually dropped out of school. I am wondering if this abuse triggered predatory behavior in her and the rage she had towards Laurie triggered some of her social issues. She was one who became a bully. She is currently incarcerated at a prison in Pennsylvania.
Paul Bernardo: Paul Bernardo is the Scarborough Rapist in Ontario, Canada. He raped many women during the late 1980′s and early 1990′s. Eventually, he murdered three teenage girls with one being the sister of his fiance at the time of the rape. It is noted that Paul was abused by his peers during elementary school. He has even stated that he committed these rapes because he felt inadequate as a result of the abuse he experienced in school. Another that went from abused to an abuser. He is currently incarcerated at a prison in Kingston, Ontario.
Shirley Wolf: Shirley Wolf was one of two girls who murdered an elderly lady in the early 1980′s in northern California. She was abused at home by her father and throughout elementary and Jr. high abused by her peers. She was eventually incarcerated at the California Youth Authority and moved over to an adult prison after she turned 18. As an adult, she was released from prison and has committed other crimes. Her location is unknown.
Some of these criminals became abusers and are behind bars. Others served their time and moved on. Even though they ended up in poor circumstances, one has to wonder if the abuse by their peers triggered this behavior? If someone had intervened would they have had a chance at better lives? Despite their circumstances, as children they were abused by their peers and as adults they survived.
Are you an adult who survived childhood bullying/Peer Abuse? Do you know a former school shooter who is still alive? Any others behind bars who fit this bill? What about any celebrities?
